What is Among the Saints?
Among the Saints is the name of the series of Graphic Novels created by Gabriel Wilson and published by Ancient Faith Publishing. The Cross and The Stag and The Broken Wheel are the first books in the series, to be followed by many more. "Among the Saints" comes from the funeral hymn sung in Orthodox funerals that reminds us we will one day hopefully meet these Saints in the Kingdom to come! Let's learn about their journeys here on earth and emulate their faith in our lives. Holy Saints pray for us!
AMONG THE SAINTS SNIPPETS
As a Graphic Novel Author & Illustrator, it gives me great pleasure to be able to express myself professionally by simply drawing and sketching my ideas on a piece of paper and drawing digitally. Below you’ll find a glimpse of a few of the projects I’ve worked on throughout my career.
I have found that you can sketch all you want and you'll refine your skills. If you sketch without direction, it can end in a notebook full of unconnected drawings. But if you practice with a sense of direction, you begin to see the fruits of your labor. For this project, I told the story of St. Seraphim of Sarov for a quarterly magazine. This was one of the first stories I wrote/illustrated for Among the Saints.
For two years I worked with a quarterly magazine called New Martyr Publishing. I drew several small comics with them which was only a snippet of what I really wanted to do. This project is the life of St. Marina, one of my daughter's patron saints.
This was another small comic I created for the New Martyr Publishing Quarterly magazine. This project was the telling of the story of the Nativity of Jesus Christ. This project yet again encouraged my desire to tell the lives of our saints and bible stories through graphic novel and comic format.
